20th meeting of the UNECE Steering Committee on Education for Sustainable Development

The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UNECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development will take place in Geneva from May 28-30.

The objective of the UNECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development is to equip people with knowledge of and skills in sustainable development, making them more competent and confident while at the same time increasing their opportunities for leading healthy and productive lifestyles in harmony with nature and with concern for social values, gender equity and cultural diversity. The aim of the UNECE Strategy for ESD is to encourage countries to integrate ESD into all forms of their education systems and covers all levels from primary to tertiary, including vocational and adult learning.
