ECO Schools in the Epoch of Artificial Intelligence: What Can Pakistan’s Pedagogical Interventions Teach Us About Reimagining Learning Futures?

  • London, England United Kingdom (map)

In an era defined by the accelerating evolution of Artificial Intelligence, this webinar examines how ECO Schools in Pakistan are reshaping pedagogical practice and reimagining learning futures. Building on insights from one year of implementation and a rich set of educator-led interventions, the session explores how environmental education, AI awareness, and Education for Sustainable Development can converge meaningfully within educational futures.

BACKGROUND
ECO Schools Pakistan is a social intervention designed and launched by ALIF (Academic Leaders Innovation Forum), with the UCL Development Education Research Centre serving as its knowledge partner and Interloop as its funding supporter. Over the past year, the initiative has mobilised more than 300 educational leaders and through them engaged 30,000+ students, teachers, and schools nationwide, cultivating a growing movement committed to sustainability, global learning, and transformative pedagogies.

Framed around the guiding question—What can Pakistan’s pedagogical interventions teach us about reimagining learning futures in the wake of AI?—the webinar will highlight the innovative practices, narratives, and design principles emerging from this work. These insights offer futuristic lessons for both the Global South and Global North, demonstrating how locally grounded pedagogical leadership can illuminate new possibilities at the intersection of planet, pedagogy, and technology.
