Reimagining Global Education: A Conference on Policy & Innovation

  • Gutman Conference Center 2 and 3, Harvard Graduate School of Education 6 Appian Way Cambridge, MA, 02138 United States (map)

Around the world, education systems are grappling with hard questions:

  • How do we support teachers in crisis settings?

  • How do we reach students who have left school behind?

  • How do we ensure that every child—no matter where they live—has access to meaningful learning?

This January, the Harvard Graduate School of Education invites you to join a two-day conference on global education, featuring original policy research and analysis conducted by HGSE master’s students.

These projects come from the course Education Policy Analysis and Research in Comparative Perspective, in which students work in consulting teams with real-world clients—ministries of education, NGOs, and international organizations—to address some of the most vexing education challenges across the globe.

On Friday, January 23, 2026, gather in person at the Gutman Conference Center at HGSE.

Panels will highlight work on socio-emotional learning in Mexico, reintegrating school dropouts in Malaysia, learning assessments in Kyrgyzstan, teacher absenteeism in Papua, teacher AI capacity in wartime Ukraine, and much more.

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, continue the conversation virtually, with presenters joining from multiple time zones and contexts—from Guam and the Marianas, to Finland, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and beyond. These panels focus on global themes such as 21st‑century skills, foundational literacy, teacher development, edtech evidence, and educational governance.

Join the virtual conference here.

Both conferences are free and open to the public. Whether you are a policymaker, practitioner, researcher, student, or simply curious about how education systems can do better, you are warmly invited to attend.

Come learn how these emerging scholars are partnering with clients to design actionable policy pathways, grounded in evidence and deeply attentive to local realities.
