The role of leadership in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is an important area of work to foster quality education. In recent times, “teacher leadership” is getting attention as a process requires sustained support and a community to share, learn, reflect and collaborate. The partners of the Sub-Saharan Africa Teacher Leadership for ESD project which is co-funded by the European Union, invite you to join an online event on 15 October 2025 to learn more about teacher leadership, the project itself, and the latest emerging research and insights.
This event is relevant for anyone who is working, researching or interested in ESD, teacher education, school leadership, teacher training, and intercultural learning. Prof. Overson Shumba, UNESCO Chairholder at The Copperbelt University will set the context of the session which will be followed by introduction of the project by Principal Investigator Prof. Daniel Fischer. Distinguished Professor Heila Lotz-Sisitka will deliver the keynote on the occasion. The participants will preview the Sustainability Starts with Teacher Leaders Course, the cornerstone of this project.
