This year’s Second World Social Summit (WSSD2) is accelerating global action on poverty eradication, decent work, and social inclusion.
Join the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and Columbia University for a WSSD2 side event to address a critical challenge: while more children attend school than ever before, access alone hasn't solved our global crises. UNESCO's Futures of Education report (2021) found that access to education is not enough. Positive social transformations require quality education, centered on values of peace, harmony, and inclusion all shaped by local contexts.
Our panel of scholars, practitioners, and youth will explore:
Virtues, values, and holistic learning,
Knowledge systems and epistemic justice, and
Bringing together social and environmental peace.
Together, we'll showcase local initiatives that re-center education on harmony and justice, reinforcing education's vital role in the principles of the Second World Social Summit.
