Cities are central actors in responding to climate change, and local communities play a decisive role in driving sustainability and resilience efforts. Many UNESCO learning cities are integrating nature-based solutions, environmental learning and participatory greening initiatives to transform urban spaces while strengthening social cohesion.
This webinar will explore how cities apply holistic, inclusive approaches to climate action by highlighting strategies from the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning’s Greening Communities Guidance and showcasing practices such as community led greening, sustainable urban design and intergenerational knowledge transfer. Speakers will share examples of how cities cultivate environmentally conscious learning cultures and build climate-resilient neighbourhoods through collective action and lifelong learning, while also considering traditional knowledge systems.
