From frameworks to action: Preparing climate-ready teachers

  • Indonesia Convention Exhibition 1 Jalan BSD Grand Boulevard Banten, 15339 Indonesia (map)

This roundtable session presents analysis of climate change education competency frameworks from international organisations and proposes a consolidated, enhanced framework for empowering teachers. The discussion will also introduce the United Nations University’s new Global Climate Change Educator Diploma, aligned with UNESCO’s Greening Education for Teachers initiative. Participants will explore how educators can be equipped to teach climate change effectively, foster student engagement and drive action in classrooms and communities worldwide.

Key questions

  • What gaps and opportunities exist in current international frameworks for climate change education?

  • Which skills do educators need to teach, support action and assess climate education effectively?

  • How can global frameworks be designed to be both universally relevant and locally adaptable?
